| Deva (pronounced day'vah) is an ancient Sanskrit word meaning "The Light Beings" or "The Shining Ones". | |
| Further, ancient myth describe Devas as the
creative forces of nature, "architects" who give land its unique form.
They inspire us to see how a garden fits into a larger
landscape surrounding it, be it a small back yard in a busy town to
hundreds of acres in the enchanted hidden valleys, plains, foothills
and wetlands of Sonoma and Napa Counties. |

Dana Osborn - Owner Deva
Gardening Born and raised in New York and educated in Switzerland, where she majored in both History of Art and Business Administration, Dana began her 30 year long design career in France where she resided until 1974. She then moved back to New York where she worked as a fine art appraiser and interior and garden designer for ten years before settling in rural Sonoma in 1982. She created Deva Gardening in direct response to an ever increasing need for a high quality landscaping business for the communities of Sonoma and Napa Counties, whose population and development are one of the fastest growing in the United States. Dana's philosophy for landscaping provides not only beauty but also a natural habitat beneficial to wildlife. An enthusiastic equestrian, Dana spends much time discovering the beauty of nature in the Mayacama Mountains, which has over 60,000 acres of fire trails and breathtaking views of both Sonoma and Napa Valleys. Her curiosity about the many botanical species native to the area has generated a philosophy of preservation as well as the desire to incorporate all the natural elements and resources of the land into her designs. |
